Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 2026

1. Who we are

My Sleep Teacher is an AI-assisted sleep coaching service for families, operated by Teaching Sweet Sleep, LLC ("Teaching Sweet Sleep," "we," "us"), based in North Carolina, USA. This policy explains what information we collect when you use mysleepteacher.com and the My Sleep Teacher app (the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

2. The short version

  • Your information is never used to train AI models. Not by us, and not by our AI provider.
  • We never sell your information.
  • We ask for your child's first name only. Please don't include last names, addresses, or other identifying details.
  • Our sleep teachers can see your family's record, including coach conversations, so they can review plans, follow up on concerns, and answer your questions.
  • You can see, correct, or delete your family's data at any time by emailing hello@teachingsweetsleep.com. We complete deletion requests within 30 days.
  • My Sleep Teacher is for parents and guardians, not children. Children never create accounts or use the Service directly.

3. Who the Service is for

My Sleep Teacher is designed for parents and legal guardians of children aged 18 months to 6 years. Accounts may only be created by adults 18 or older. Children do not create accounts, log in, or interact with the Service. All information about a child is provided by their parent or guardian.

The Service is operated from the United States and available to families in other countries.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to provide, your child's last name, photos, school, address, or medical records.

5. How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account and subscription
  • Build your child's sleep plan and generate personalized coaching replies
  • Remember your family's progress between conversations
  • Process payments and send receipts
  • Send service emails (account, billing, plan updates) and, if you opt in, tips and offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Review plans and coach replies for quality, and let our teachers follow up personally when a family needs help
  • Keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations

We do not sell your information.

6. AI and your data

My Sleep Teacher's coach and plans are powered by AI models from a third-party AI provider. When you message the coach, the relevant parts of your child's profile, intake answers, plan, and recent conversation are sent to that provider so the model can write a personalized reply.

  • No training. Your information is not used to train or fine-tune any AI model. We don't train models, and our AI provider's terms prohibit it from training its models on our customers' content.
  • Limited retention by the AI provider. Our AI provider processes this information only to generate the reply and automatically deletes it from its systems within 30 days, except where it must keep it longer to investigate misuse or comply with law.
  • Personalization is not training. Using your information to write your family's guidance is different from using it to build or improve an AI model. We do the first, never the second.
  • AI can make mistakes. The coach's guidance is based on Teaching Sweet Sleep's methods, but it is generated by AI and may occasionally be wrong or incomplete. Use your judgment as a parent, and see section 14.

7. Who we share information with

We share information only with the companies that help us run My Sleep Teacher, and only what each one needs. Each is bound by contract to protect it and use it only to provide its service to us.

  • AI provider: generates plans and coach replies
  • Cloud hosting and database providers: run the app and store your data
  • Sign-in provider: secures your account
  • Payment processor: handles purchases
  • Email provider: delivers our emails
  • Customer management tools: help us follow up with families
  • Analytics and advertising partners: help us understand how our website and marketing perform (section 15)

We may also disclose information:

  • When required by law, such as a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect someone's safety
  • In a business transfer, if Teaching Sweet Sleep is merged or sold. The new owner would be bound by this policy for information collected under it
  • With your permission, for any other purpose you agree to

We never sell your information.

8. Where your data is stored and how we protect it

Your family's data is stored with established cloud providers in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

  • All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
  • Database access is restricted by row-level security, so each parent account can reach only its own family's records.
  • We never see or store your password.
  • Card details go directly to our payment processor and never touch our systems.
  • Only our teachers and our administrator can access family records (section 9), and only for the purposes in this policy.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.

9. Who can see your conversations

My Sleep Teacher pairs AI coaching with real sleep teachers. To do that, a small team can see your family's record, including your intake answers, plan, logs, and coach conversations:

  • Our sleep teachers (Randi and Emily) review plans, check in when a family seems stuck, follow up on developmental or medical concerns you raise at intake, and answer questions you send through Ask a Teacher.
  • Our technical administrator may access records only to fix problems with the app or investigate a bug you report.

No one else at Teaching Sweet Sleep has access, and no one outside our team reads your conversations.

10. How long we keep your data

DataHow long we keep it
Account and family data (profile, intake, plan, logs, conversations, notebook)While your account is open, and until you ask us to delete it
App activity records (when you open the app and which screens you use)90 days, then deleted automatically
Contact details of people who start sign-up but don't purchaseUntil you ask us to delete them
Payment and billing recordsAs long as tax and accounting law requires
Data held by our AI providerDeleted within 30 days (section 6)

After we delete your data, copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short period until those backups are overwritten.

11. Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • See the information we hold about you and your child
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete your account and your family's data (section 12)
  • Get a copy of your family's data in a portable format
  • Stop marketing emails by tapping unsubscribe in any email. You'll still get emails about your account and plan
  • Manage cookies (section 15)

To make any request, email hello@teachingsweetsleep.com from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days, and we will never charge you or treat you differently for using these rights.

Residents of some U.S. states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others) have these rights under state law and may also appeal a decision we make about a request by replying to our response.

12. How to delete your data

  1. Email hello@teachingsweetsleep.com from the address on your account with the subject "Delete my data."
  2. We confirm the request came from you.
  3. Within 30 days, we delete your account, your child's profile, intake answers, plan, logs, coach conversations, teacher questions, and family notebook from our systems, and remove your contact record from our email and customer tools.
  4. We email you when it's done.

We keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as payment records for tax purposes. Deleting your data ends access to the app, and it can't be undone.

13. Children's privacy

My Sleep Teacher is a service for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and children may not create accounts or use the app. Information about a child is provided only by their parent or guardian, who controls it and can view, correct, or delete it at any time (sections 11 and 12).

We ask for the minimum we need to personalize sleep guidance: a first name, date of birth, and answers about sleep and daily routines. If you believe a child has given us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Health information and medical advice

My Sleep Teacher provides behavioral sleep coaching. It is not medical care and does not diagnose or treat any condition. If you tell us at intake that you have developmental or medical concerns, we use that only to tailor guidance, flag your family for a teacher to review, and remind you to involve your pediatrician.

Please share only what helps us coach your child's sleep. Don't send medical records, test results, or diagnoses unless they directly affect sleep. For any health concern, talk to your child's doctor.

15. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, understand how visitors use our website, and measure our marketing. Some of these tools are provided by analytics and advertising partners.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and manage ad preferences in the settings of the platforms you use.

16. Changes and contact

If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll update the effective date and email current customers before the change takes effect.
